MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory in Waveland
Four Stations Under Advisory
(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory for a beach monitoring station in Waveland on Tuesday. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels. There are currently four stations across the Mississippi Gulf Coast under an advisory.The advisor has been lifted for the following station:
►Station 3 — Waveland Beach – from Oak Boulevard to Favre Street.
These stations remain under advisory:
►Station 2 – Buccaneer State Park Beach — the extent is from 100 yards west of the sign eastward to 100 yards east of the sign.
►Station 7A — Long Beach — from Oak Gardens Avenue to Girard Avenue.
►Station 12A – Biloxi West Central Beach — from Travia Street east to Iberville Drive.
►Station 19 — Pascagoula Beach West — from Oliver Street eastward to Westwood Street.
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
