MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory in Bay St. Louis
(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory Wednesday for the following beach monitoring station in Bay St. Louis issued June 28:
● Station 4 — Bay St. Louis Beach — from the box culvert east to Ballantine Street.
Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
The following station is the only one across the Mississippi Gulf Coast currently under an advisory:
●Station 7A — Long Beach — from Oak Gardens east to Girard.
