MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory for Station in Waveland

Two Advisories Remain in Effect

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory for one beach monitoring station in Waveland on Tuesday. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.The advisory has been lifted for:

►Station 3 – Waveland Beach – from Oak Boulevard to Favre Street.

There are currently two stations under an advisory:

►Station 15 – Shearwater Beach — from Holcomb Boulevard to Ashley Place.

►Station 19 – Pascagoula Beach West – from Oliver Street to Westwood Street.

When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisories will be lifted. Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
