MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory for Station in Ocean Springs

Two Advisories Remain in Effect

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory for one beach monitoring station in Ocean Springs on Tuesday. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.The advisory has been lifted for:

►Station14 – Front Beach – from Yacht Club to Jackson Avenue.

Two advisories remain in effect:

►Station 3 – Waveland Beach (Waveland) – from Oak Boulevard to Favre Street.

►Station 15 – Shearwater Beach (Ocean Springs) – from Weeks Bayou to Ashley.

When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisories will be lifted. Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
