MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory for Station in Gulfport
One Station Under Advisory
(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory Thursday for beach monitoring station 11. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels. There is currently one station across the Mississippi Gulf Coast under an advisory—Station 10.The advisory has been lifted for the following station:
►Station 11 — Gulfport East Beach — from Tegarden Road east to Anniston Avenue.
This station remains under advisory:
►Station 10 — Gulfport Central Beach — from Alfonso Drive east to Arkansas Avenue.
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
