MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory for Area of Coldwater
(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has lifted a general water contact advisory issued March 3 for areas around the Town of Coldwater in Tate County. The area of concern was around the town’s wastewater lagoon south of Highway 306 between Highway 51 and Interstate 55.
MDEQ advises that people can now engage in water contact such as swimming or wading and can consume fish or anything else taken from these waters. The advisory was issued due to significant rain events and rising waters near the town’s wastewater treatment facility and the potential release of wastewater.
