MDEQ Lifts Two Water Contact Advisories in Gulfport
One Advisory in Effect
(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted two water contact advisories in Harrison County on Friday. There is currently one station under an advisory.
Advisories have been lifted for these stations:
►Station 10 – Gulfport Central Beach – from Alfonso Drive to Arkansas Avenue.
►Station 10B – East Courthouse Road Beach (Gulfport) – from Courthouse Road east to Tegarden Road.
An advisory is still in effect for:
►Station 11 – Gulfport East Beach – from Tegarden Road to Anniston Avenue.
Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
