MDEQ Lifts Two More Water Contact Advisories

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted two water contact advisories for the following beach monitoring stations:

●Station 4 — Bay St. Louis — from the box culvert to Ballantine Street.

●Station 14 — Front Beach — from Yacht Club to Jackson Avenue in Ocean Springs.

Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels.  The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.

A list of stations still under advisory and more information on the Mississippi Beach Monitoring Program are available at: http://www.usm.edu/gcrl/msbeach/index.cgi.
