MDEQ Lifts Three Water Contact Advisories in Harrison County

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted three water contact advisories issued May 31 for the following beach monitoring stations:

●Station 8 — Gulfport West – from Maria Avenue east to Camp Avenue.

●Station 9 — Gulfport Harbor Beach – from 20th Avenue east to Thornton Avenue.

●Station 10 – Gulfport Central – from Alfonso Drive east to Arkansas Avenue.

Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels.  The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.

Stations 10B and 11A are still under advisories.
