MDEQ Lifts Three Water Contact Advisories

One Advisory Issued for Station in Gulfport

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted three water contact advisories Friday for the following beach monitoring stations in Harrison County:

►Station 5 — Pass Christian West Beach – from Fort Henry Avenue to Elliot Street.
►Station 10B – East Courthouse Road Beach – from Courthouse Road east to Tegarden Road.
►Station 12B – Biloxi East Central Beach – from St. Peter Street east to Dukate Street.

Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.An advisory was issued for a station in Gulfport:

►Station 10 – Gulfport Central Beach – from Alfonso Drive to Arkansas Avenue.
