MDEQ Lifts One Water Contact Advisory
Five Advisories in Effect
(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory for one beach monitoring station in Hancock County on Thursday. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels. There are currently five other stations under an advisory.The advisory has been lifted for:
►Station 1 — Lakeshore Beach — from the Silver Slipper Casino eastward to Poinset.
Advisories are still in effect for:
►Station 2 — Buccaneer State Park Beach — the extent is from 100 yards west of the sign eastward to 100 yards east of the sign.
►Station 5 — Pass Christian West Beach — from Fort Henry Avenue east to Elliot Street.
►Station 8 — Gulfport West Beach — from Marie Avenue to Camp Avenue.
►Station 10 — Gulfport Central Beach — from Alfonso Drive to Arkansas Avenue.
►Station 10B — East Courthouse Road Beach — from Courthouse Road to Tegarden Road.
