MDEQ Lifts Five Water Contact Advisories
(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted five water contact advisories for the following beach monitoring stations:
● Station 1 – Lakeshore — from the Silver Slipper to Poinset.
●Station 2 – Buccaneer — near State Park Road.
●Station 3 – Waveland — from Oak Boulevard to Farve Street.
●Station 5 — Pass Christian West — from Fort Henry Avenue to Elliot Street.
●Station 10 — Gulfport Central — Alfonso Drive to Arkansas Avenue.
Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
The following remains under an advisory:
●Station 10B — East Courthouse.
