Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the beach water contact advisory for Biloxi East Central Beach. Water samples show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels.
A beach water contact advisory has been issued for Pass Christian Central Beach and for Gulfport Harbor Beach. The beaches themselves are not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in these areas. When water samples show that bacteria levels are safe for contact, the advisories will be lifted.
The advisory is lifted for:
  • Biloxi East Central Beach — the affected area is from St. Peter St. east to Dukate Street. (Station 12B)
The advisories have been issued for:
  • Pass Christian Central Beach — the affected area is from Henderson Ave. east to Hiern Ave. (Station 6)
  • Gulfport Harbor Beach — the affected area is from 20th Ave. east to Thornton Ave. (Station 9)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
