MDEQ Lifts Beach Water Contact Advisory
Five Other Advisories Remain in Effect
Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a beach water contact advisory for East Courthouse Road Beach. Water samples show the bacteria levels are safe for contact.
Five other beach water contact advisories remain in effect. When water samples show the bacteria levels are same for contact, the advisories will be lifted.
An advisory has been lifted for:
- East Courthouse Road Beach — the previously affected area is from Courthouse Rd. east to Tegarden. (Station 10B)
Advisories remain in effect for:
- Waveland Beach — the affected area is from Oak Blvd. east to Favre St. (Station 3)
- Bay St. Louis Beach — the affected area is from the Box Culvert east to Ballantine St. (Station 4)
- Pass Christian West Beach — the affected area is from Fort Henry Ave. east to Elliot St. (Station 5)
- Pass Christian Central Beach — the affected area is from Henderson Ave. east to Hiern Ave. (Station 6)
- Long Beach — the affected area is from Oak Garden Ave. east to Girard Ave. (Station 7A)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
