Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a beach water contact advisory for Long Beach on Friday, January 27th. Water samples show the area reached acceptable bacteria levels. Three other advisories remain in effect.
The advisory was lifted for:
- Long Beach — the previously affected area is from Oak Garden Ave. east to Girard Ave. (Station 7A)
Advisories remain in effect for:
- Bay St. Louis Beach — the affected area is from the Box Culvert east to Ballantine St. (Station 4)
- Pass Christian Central Beach — the affected area is from Henderson Ave. east to Hiern Ave. (Station 6)
- Biloxi East Central Beach — the affected area is from St. Peter St. east to Dukate Street. (Station 12B)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
