PUBLIC INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL MEETING FOR C.A.M.P. INITIATIVE

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7, 6-8pm CST

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) is launching the “Clean Air Mississippi Project” and seeking public input and participation through an online public ZOOM meeting Thursday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. CST. Meeting details follow:

ZOOM MEETING ID: 865 8768 2418, PASSCODE: 347383

The purpose of the meeting is to introduce MDEQ’s Clean Air Mississippi Project (CAMP), a statewide clean air planning initiative funded by a grant awarded to the MDEQ by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The meeting will provide information on ways the public can help guide the process, as well as allow the public to ask questions about the project.

“This initiative and process will provide our state with access to a competitive grant opportunity under the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s $5 billion Climate Pollution Reduction Grant,” said MDEQ Executive Director Chris Wells. “It’s an opportunity to implement clean air projects we would otherwise not have the money to fund.”

The grant funding may help address existing and new community, government, industry and non-governmental organization projects aimed at reducing emissions of air pollutants, including greenhouse gases or enhancing greenhouse gas sinks. MDEQ welcomes all input, from simple pollution reduction ideas to more complete concepts, including shovel-ready projects.
