(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) issued a water contact advisory in the City of Biloxi Friday. The advisory area in the Mississippi Sound stretches from Brady Drive to Ocean Club Boulevard and includes the old Broadwater Marina along Highway 90.

MDEQ advises people to avoid water contact in this area including recreational activities such as swimming and wading.

The advisory is being issued due to a broken wastewater line between Brady Drive and Ocean Club Boulevard that is discharging untreated wastewater into a storm drain that then discharges into the old Broadwater Marina. The city is working on the issues including the installation of a temporary pump. MDEQ staff are monitoring the situation in this area and may revise the advisory as needed.
