Aerosol Cans

Effective 2 July 2022, the MDEQ adopted a new regulation for increasing recycling by adding aerosol cans to universal waste regulations. The addition of aerosol cans to the Universal Waste universe will allow for the management of aerosol cans under the new rule. Unpunctured cans may be managed as a Universal Waste; however, the contents of any punctured cans will be required to be profiled to determine whether it is or is not a hazardous waste.
