MDEQ Lifts Advisory for Big Black River


The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) lifted a water contact advisory Monday that had been issued December 16 for a segment of the Big Black River in Madison, Hinds, Warren, and Yazoo counties. The advisory extended from where the river intersects Burnt Corn Creek just above the railroad crossing near Kearney Park in Flora to the intersection of the river with I-20 in the Edwards and Flowers area.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) issued a water contact advisory Wednesday for a segment of the Big Black River in Madison and Hinds counties. Governor’s Task Force to Host Irrigation and Water Conservation Summit


The Governor’s Delta Sustainable Water Resources Task Force will host an Irrigation and Water Conservation Summit at the Capps Center in Stoneville, MS, on Tuesday, December 15th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The event will begin with a General Session followed by four Breakout Sessions, each with five concurrent presentations. Producers, landowners, consultants, natural resource professionals and other interested parties may choose which presentation to attend during each Breakout Session. After the second Breakout Session, another General Session will be held as lunch is served before resuming Breakout Sessions at 1:00 p.m.

MDEQ Issues Water Contact Advisory in Bay St. Louis 


The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, issued a water contact advisory Friday for a sampling station in Bay St. Louis. This segment of beach is not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in this area.
